TopSolid 7.8 Wizard and Process detailed tutorial ??

Unread post by eric14779 »

Looking for a detailed, with examples, tutorial on creating new, and expanding existing wizards and processes.

For example, The Shoulder bolt process, does not allow for counter-boring deeper below the head for use in stamping die stripper plate mounting. Also the dowel process does not allow for thru holes, only blind. I want to add the capability to bore thru at dowel dia on one end and show a reduced dia drill thru with bored hole just past the dowel.

These are just a couple of things I would like to do...

I would like to have detailed tutorials/guide for this too.
If that doesn't happens though, I've found that one way to learn how these work is to make a copy of the existing process document, study the operation and identities tree and try modifying it.

This is probably no better than what Kyle sent, but the basic steps once a Part Process document is created are:
1. Tools->Use Function and select Function associated with the Part
2. Include the associated Part as a Background document
3. Put in 'dummy/placeholder' shapes and operate on them as desired
3. Tools->Operator and select the shape and the the desired operations (drilling, pocket, boss etc.)
4. Here's the step I could use some guidance on but Automatic collision option will probably suffice, when the process is activated you can pick which parts are to be operated on
5. If you want to control the process via certain parameters, drag the parameters into the 'Drivers' or 'Optional drivers' folder.

The new process should be available/activated when the associated part is inserted in an assembly.
