Where did "background bitmap" go??

Unread post by Daniel »

So i was giong to do a sketch using "background bitmap" as help just as i have done a million times in TSV6 but the option does not exist anymore.

Cannot really find any info in the help section or the users guide. I suppose it´s called something else now or is it just not implemented yet?

Also another question: "environment", does it only work for refection in parts while rendering?
It would be nice to be able to use an enviroment for background customization instead of just top- and bottom color...

Thanks!

Hi Barspin,

At this point, I do not believe that the Background BitMap function exists in TopSolid 7 yet. If I was to guess, it will probably come in a future version some time. As you know, TopSolid 7 is a completely new product and has a lot of growing to do! I have already seen some of the functionality for the 2010 version and all I can say is WOW!

As for the Environement function. You are correct. It is currently usable only on parts that have reflection ability on them. The environemnt simply gives them something to reflect.
Happy Designing

Hi Bill, thanks for the answer!

I guess you´re right about background bitmap, i understand that the product isn´t finished yet but you know some times you get carried away.

Good things are worth waiting for.

Ok, so i still had to do the background bitmap to sketch on.
I just created a new material with my background bitmap as a texture and placed it on a flat surface. Voila, a background bitmap was created... =)

It is possible to display the environment in the background with the command Visualization / Environment as Background. The view must be in a realistic render mode with a conical camera.

The environment can also be displayed when rendering a ray-traced image by setting the background option as "Environment" in the dialog pane.
