Link reference cell in properties to Excel catalog

Unread post by Scott »

Does anyone know how to link the "reference" cell in the defined properties to an excel catalog?

I have a catalog part, but the catalog part is different then my part number. I want to have the reference cell (part number) to change based on the catalog code used when i include the standard into an assembly.

I have attached an image to help illustrate.

Hi,

In your excel file rename your column "DW Part Number" to "$Reference".
This should be enough.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried this with no luck.

Does Cell "E1" have to be defined like cell "A1"? (See attached image)

Ok,

Just try this:
Close TopSolid.
Open the excel file.
In the excel file  File  Save As  In Type file choose Text(separated by tabulations).
Then in windows explorer rename the txt file to cat file.
Rename the excel file to another name.
Run TopSolid.
Check if everything is OK.

This didn't work...

What version of TopSolid are you using? We are using TopSolid 2012 (V613).

Would you be willing to take a look at the files that we have created?

See attached files.

I had to add ".txt" to the ".cat" file so I could upload the file.
