[Solved] Opening STL files

Unread post by alexvass »

Hi everybody,
i have an stl file (capacity 17MB) that i can open it with other SWs like Geomagic, Leios, Zprint, Solidworks, but i can't open it with my TopSolid (v6 and v7). It has almost 500K triangles. Is it possible to open it?
Do i have to put something in my top.cfg file, in order to open big stl files?

Thanks

Hello,

None,

You may have to wait a bit, it always takes a bit of time to load STL files,

See you,

Rémi

Hi,

The opening of STL file in TopSolid'Design is very long, and maybe your PC is not correctly configured (you absolutely for big STL file to use a x64 OS and software system).

I strongly recommend you, if it is possible for you, to open it with TopSolid'Cam (the interface is not the same than the Design). It is really faster than TopSolid'Design.

My client that sent me the .asc file also sent me a .stl file (52MB) that crashed/stalled TopSolid when I tried to open it in TopSolid'Design.

I just opened it in TopSolid'WoodCam and it opened in about 5 seconds and it looks great!

Thanks for the tip!
