Need help with a slot

Need help with a slot

hello,

I've been trying to figure out the best way to put this slot into this solid.
I'm sure there are a lot of ways this can be done, I'm just looking for a few good ideas.
The green curve shows what angle the trim(or cut) should be, depth of slot .56 in.
The bottom of the slot is flat and is also parallel with the white projected curve, so to speak of.
Not sure if this Is called "normal to the curve"

I'm working in 2009

Hi,

For me :D the best solution is:
  • Transform your planar curve following Z- to the needed value (I try with 5in)
    Launch the Pocket function
    Use Curve In Place mode
    Select your upper reference face
    OK
IS it the result you are expecting?

Hello,

jehronimo, I'm hoping today I'll get a chance to try your solution.
olaio, the desired results I'm looking for is to put this slug into the pocket, with the slug flush with the surface, or in other words, the angle of the pocket
(trim)(cut) must be on the same angle as the green curve that I've showed on the projection.
I hope this helps.

I'm not sure I understand, ''Transform your planar curve following Z- to the needed value (I try with 5in) '' But, I'm learning" Anyway, I've found a solution using another cad/cam software I'm more familiar with, this up-loaded file shows the results I'm looking for using TopSolid design, after I find my solution in TopSolid design, I will be working in TS cam to machine in 5 axis.

Hi ssking

1 - Create a coordinate system on curve and point.
select the green curve and his middle point.
2 - Modify the create coordinate system spinning around Y or X 90º
3 - Create a duplicated coordinate system according the desired direction and desired distance.
4 - Project the existing curve on the created coordinate system.
5 - use the pocket tool with the "curve in place" option.

this should work
