A tutorial for TS7 please ?

Unread post by Top'Noob »

Hello fellow TS users,

I have tried a couple times in the past to use TS7 in the same way I currently use TS6.10 but cannot get the results I desire.

I do not have the electrode module so when I design electrodes my procedure (in TS6.10) is like this:

1. Save a parasolid of a particular detail from the mold design (for example a cavity or a core block) then I open that detail in TopSolid Design and save it as something like Core Electrodes.top

2. I design electrodes as needed placing each electrode on a separate layer

3. After electrodes are designed I make *.dft documents for the EDM operator and I export a parasolid file for each electrode which gets exported to Mastercam since I am not using TS CAM yet.

In previous attempts I have been unable to generate the draft document in TS7 and I cannot figure out why...

Could somebody please take a look at the files I have attached and let me know how to make this work with TS7 :?:

In my most recent attempt I was not even able to import a parasolid file but maybe that was due to me using a temporary evaluation license. Hopefully my VAR will get an updated code soon.

Any helpful advice or tutorials regarding this procedure will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this.

I still don't have a current code file so I can't explore this as much as I'd like...

I see that you are using an assembly document to generate the draft documents and it appears that you imported my electrodes into the assembly document... Would it have been possible to create the electrodes in the assembly document ?

I think... If I recall correctly... I wasn't able to create an electrode (block) and use features like "subtract" in the assembly document.

I'll play around with this some more after I get the updated code.

Hi,

Step by step

1 - Import the parasolid file to a part document.
2 - Make an assembly document with the part.
3 - Create in-place parts to create the electrodes. You can use all the boolean operations!
4 - Create representations for each electrodes.
5 - Create the draft for each representation.
