what kind of graphic card you have?

Geforce? type?
Quadro? type?
other ...

Are you happy with it?

please give some feedback ... good

and bad

Nvidia Quadro FX 1400. Love it. Works great for TopSolid and Mastercam.

When I do update the drivers I ALWAYS get them directly from Nvidia. Then I have an installation procedure I always follow...

1. Download drivers and save someplace convenient
2. Uninstall current video driver
3. Restart
4. Cancel, Cancel, always cancel when Windows tries to load a new driver after reboot
5. Install new driver.

I am doubting between the quadro FX 1700 and the Quadro FX 3700

The last one is much more expensieve and I don't know if it is worth the money

What are you using now and how poor is the performance for your type of work ?

I think if it were my money I would buy a Geforce 9800 which has double the memory of the FX1700 for the same price...

I have a Geforce 8800GTX for the moment
... but I'm not happy with the result

So I don't know if the 9800 will be so much better

I have Nvidia Quadro FX3600M and it works perfect. No problems to report. I have also used Nvidia Quadro FX1600M and didn't have any problems there.

Just one more thing. Missler recommends only Nvidia graphic cards. ATI can lead to program crash, instability etc...Something to do with open GL.

Wow, what version of video drivers are you using ? Did you get them from Nvidia's website ? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

What sort of bad results are you getting with the 8800 ?

Something else to try is once the Nvidia drivers are installed you can start the "Nvidia control panel", select "manage 3d settings", then on the global settings tab choose Dassault Systemes Solidworks.

This is a trick we use to get Mastercam to play nicely with the video card. Unfortunately Nvidia does not have settings specifically for TopSolid or Mastercam but the Solidworks settings work great for me in all of my applications.

yes the 8800 should work just fine, i have one its perfect, in fact there is no need to buy a Quadro with TopSolid, G-Force or better is just fine.

Jeff is right, and of course Quadro range makes good products, but TS does not use it @ 100%....so it is a lot of money for nothing (Mark, it is you?

)...so it is always a better idea to buy a powerful GForce than a bad Quadro....

I have the latest drivers ...
but I never render anymore. It takes too much time
And TS crashes a lot of times when I try to...
It's probably the combination of my PC with the videocard
I hope it will be better when I have my new PC

the top files are also very big to render (between 15 and 30 MB)

"A unique feature of the Quadro GPUs is to support antialiased lines in hardware" => does anyone feels the difference???

I also work with Rhino (most of the time, I use it for rendering). When I try to draw in it, the lines "flicker" which makes it very difficult

these are a few of the specs of my new PC:

I think you need to tweak something... but I can't imagine what...

For example, I have run simple TopSolid files on a Geforce FX5600 video card and it looked great.

If you get the 8800 card set correctly it should be an excellent card. 30MB files should be very easy for this card.
