TopSolid Update: Unable to connect to update server

Hello,

Last week I could run TS Update without any problems at all. On Friday I uninstall TS on this machine and then reinstalled it. Since then TopsolidUpdate has not been able to check for any updates. I receive the error as shown by "1" below.

What I' have tried:
-I checked that I have an internet connection, I do
-I attempted to navigate to http://ftp.TopSolid.com my browser but was requested for a username and password as shown by "2".
-I shut down my anti-virus (Kasperky) even though I have previously never needed to do this, the result was the same: TS Update gave the same error.
-On another computer on the same network as this one, I can successfully run TS'Update without any problems... which makes me know it can't be a network restriction problem

Does anyone perhaps know what is going wrong?

The only other solution I can think of is that somehow my TopSolid installation "lost" the Account/Password for the proxy server. If this is the case, does anyone know what it is so I can complete the below?

Thanks in advance,
Michelle

Hi Michelle

If you don't use a proxy. In the options, disable the proxy (low left "Proxy server" "Modify your settings" )

In the case you have a proxy, just type your proxy login and password.

See you

Rémi

Hi Remi,

I don't have a proxy and there is nothing set for the proxy. I checked the other machine on the network where TopSolid update does indeed work - - the settings are exactly the same - that is - no settings for a proxy.

Thanks Remi but my problem is still not solved :(

Hello,
Please also check the Windows Firewall. If you have kapersky, I am sure this is turned off...but double check anyway.

Something else to try. Run TS'Update from outside of TS. You can access it in the start | Program group. Sometimes this helps it solve the problem.

When you uninstalled TopSolid, did you uninstall all? Includeing TS'UPdate?

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling just TS update as well. You can find the MSI file for it on the DVD in the X64 folder.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your check list:-

-Windows Firewall - its off
-I ran TS'Update with TS closed, same result
-I uninstalled absolutely everything, including TopSolid update

I thought for sure I was going to find an answer in your suggestions, but I'm afraid not. Thank-you though.

I'm not sure if this is what the solution is, but after doing these steps it worked:

1. Using setup.exe uninstalled everything (including TS Update)
2. Deleted the TopsolidPDM folder
3. Restarted my machine
4. Ran setup.exe again

And now its working.

interesting....I'm a glad it solved the problem. All this tells me is that something more deep inside of the installation was corrupt....weird.
