Tool choice based on material thickness

Unread post by Jason_Scott »

I would like to set my processes so that if I am cutting mdf that is thinner that 1/4" it uses a downcut bit to cut it out and if its thicker use a compression bit.

I am running a Biesse machine so it references the tool name to call a tool in the program.
I was thinking that if I entered something like this in the tool name line it would work but I think I am wrong
(Rough.zmax>.25)? 3_8COMP:3_8DOWN

I haven't made this work yet and I am not sure if it will.

It would probably be better if you had the operation in there twice and just use the integer evaluation of activate or deactivate base on material thick. I have not had a lot of success with cam use strings in if statements better to formulate to evaluate it as integer 1 or 0.
