Interference between two drills
Hi guys,
I have interference between two components (door and shelf) so the drills are in the same place and for some reason, the drill of the door disappears. I need that drill, I don't mind if the drill of the shelf disappears. I used clash shape in parts to make the drills in the assembly. If more information needed, please tell me.
Thank you in advance,
Jose.

This is a screenshot of Multi-draft. You can see in red that there is only one drill. In the right side there're the two drills.

Hi
Are you able to apply the process manually? ( to define if the clash shape fails to find the part or not )

Re: Interference between two drills
No. That's not possible, because the position of the drills is determined by the parts. It would be possible if I hadn't formulas that determine the number of shelves, position, number of hinges, etc.

Re: Interference between two drills
I made a simple test ( in fact 2)
one component dowel diam 6 > process ok
superposed another dowel diam 8 > process ok
Second test a simple drilling with a linear propagation
then a dowel superposed in one of the drilling > process ok
i see 2 scenarios, the difference of diameter allows TopSolid to find the face to drill ( what is the diameter of your shelf support and hinge mounting plate ?)
Do you use a clash shape in the mounting plate drilling to help TopSolid to find the drilling face.
Thanks

Re: Interference between two drills
The shelf has 5mm diam and 10mm for hinge.
Yes, I use clash shape in both supoport and mounting plate.
Could be a problem related to configuration?
Thanks for help.

Re: Interference between two drills
Hey,
A few suggestions for trouble shooting:
Try running only the tool for the hinges to see if its really the fact that the holes coincide that is causing the problem, and not that there is something wrong with the hinge drill tool itself.
Try to run the hinge first and the shelve after.
If possible turn the drilling into a pocket.
if its not already the case make a repeat of the front drilling that does work so the back hole that does not work does not need to "find" his own face to drill on.
I could have a look if you want but i would need an export of the 3D shapes and I don't know if you are willing/able to share that.
Best of luck!

Hi Laurens,
When I dont' need shelves everything is ok. I made a linear propagation and both drills disappeared. You can see in the pictures.
How can I run the hinge first? Because I have a Standard with everything except the door and the door is inserted in a template.
Thanks.

Re: Interference between two drills
Hello guys
I made plenty of tests and all good. BUT!! Few years ago I had similar problem and few months ago my friend had same problem when some holes are not machined (they didn't exist in CAM file). I really prefer do not make cuttings top of each other. In worst case You can destroy machine. In Your case I will make shelf component a bit flexible - make holes only there where they are needed and usable. Or... do not put hinge holes and shelf holes on the same line. Move shelf holes 10mm outside and hinge plate will cover that hole.

Re: Interference between two drills
Hi guys, I have some good news.
We solved the problem. We didnt' realize that the hinges were 0.5 mm inside the side, so TopSolid couldn't identify correctly the drills.
Thanks for help.
