BOM export Excel template

Hello

Can you tell me, please, how an Excel file should be defined to work as a template for "use an excel template" option of BOM export to file?
When I try to use this option, TSW overwrites the Excel template file (header and everything).

Thank you

Hello

One of the easier way

1) create a BOM export to an excel file
2) check the names for each cell ( TOP_col0 / TOP_col1...) it's following the BOM columns sequence

3) do such naming in a new xls file ( you can also in tool option delare and use other than the main folio)

4) When exporting a BOM select the final xls file, it will write under the named cell

You can put those cell names everywhere in Excel. They don't need to be side-by-side. You can skip some columns for math things etc. I have temaplate where named cells starts from row 10. Upper area is for project data and company logo.
It's very nice tool.

Hello

I've tried the Woody's solution and it works just fine, even with some calculation cells on the right side, outside of TSW exported columns.

I will try Raud's idea too because it seems to be very interesting, although I don't know how to protect anything else except the top row not to be overwritten by TSW.

Thank you all for your valuable support!

Put Your TOP_col1 to A10 for example. Then rows 1-9 will be empty.

Thank you RaudMees

Your advice was very useful. I already share it with my colleagues.

PS:
I wonder if this kind of trick can be found anywhere in TSW documentation.
