auto-update disabling

Hello

I usually deal with an unpleasant situation: I work with an assembly of several furniture bodies and its draft document and I need to modify something in one of the bodies so I have to open its template and do the necessary modifications. This is the beginning of the nightmare: everything works very slow - the program tries to update in the same time the furniture body, the assembly which contains it and the draft (without any progress bar, btw).

I'd like to find a way to disable the automatic update between the linked documents, and to manually update all in the end.
Is that possible? Does the manual update exist?

Is there any other solution to prevent this unpleasant slowdown of the program? Like I said in other posts, I work on a pretty powerful computer but it seems that TSW doesn't know how to use all this power.

Thanks

Hi,
i think that at least for the draft you can disable this option:

The disable auto update of views can help but the other thing I do in this situation often is to use "Lock Document Update" in the parent assembly before making any changes in the template. That way, none of those changes are trying to update down stream. When done making changes, just toggle the function again and the updates will push through to the assembly.

Hi Remi

I do appreciate your subtle irony :)
I usually mark my discussions as solved but I consider some of them still opened and I check this forum almost every day hoping that new opinions will be posted on some topics.

Regards

MG

Hi
I've tried both solutions and found it very helpful
Thank you, again

After all, it's sad that such a promising software needs such poor little tricks to gain some little speed
I think that, after all those releases, the programmers which are behind this program should take a look at their software greater brothers such CATIA, SW, Inventor or so (I know, it's not really the same domain but they are just CAD programs, after all) to see how things should really works.

you can also use the disable automatic update box when opening a file. should you want to update a view you can then click "regenerate" via view and select each view manually to update. or check the box on in the properties mentioned above this will turn update on and so all views will update right after.
