Opticut help

Unread post by Davy »

Hello,

I'm trying to configure TSW for Opticut. I've got almost completely figured it out. But I've still one problem.
The Material descriptions that TopSolid fills in are being replaced by an "@". This is only the case if edges are assigned to the part.

I hope this image will give you guys some more information about my problem:

I've been trying to modify some lines in the".bom" text files. But I think it's not the right one because nothing changes.

Thanks

Hello Davy

I know that situation. You need to use Filter command when creating BOM. It means, You will filter edges and furniture (hardware) off and creating BOM only for those parts, which are going to saw. You may need to show which sides are edgebanded, but its another case.

Thanks for the reply

I will look into the filtering options when creating the bom.
Do you also know a way to combine the information of the part (designation) together with the name of a subset?
My thought was that you need to edit a bom file to get that done?

Filtering - i have this in the end of Indexing Bom (this is separate bom to indexing parts)

FILTER {
DIR=TOPCONFIG
"NAME=Partsonly"
;
}

And in the options I have filter where edgebandings and hardware is filtered off - name is Partsonly.
Designation and subset - do You mean multi-level BOM where are units and unit parts together?

Can you tell me which indexing bom I need to modify or where I can find it?

Hello

BOMs are in Your template folder and You can modify them or create new from scratch. For Indexing I prefer to make new one from scratch and You have to know that each column in Indexing will put more data into Indexing and with large data it can be big mess.
For simple use I have Detail designation, material, Index3D, part type and idendification. This is just for Indexing. When indexing is added, then output BOM is even larger with dimensions, edgebanding, quantity, etc. I have several BOM templates for furniture, partition walls etc. For Opticut You need 1 BOM where are only parts and then other BOM with more data or separate BOM for fittings.

Indexing information for BOM (You can find it from TS help)

This keyword is an argument used with the the regroup identical part function, it allows you to add an index on each part.

Syntax:

DEF=<property|IDENTIFICATION=separator,index>

property: you can create your index with any property (DESIGNATION, REFERENCE,...).

separator: you can type one or several characters.

index: enter 0 for a numerical index or A for a alphanumerical index.

Example:

DEF=<DESIGNATION|IDENTIFICATION=_,A>

Thank you for al the information. Slowly i'm getting to the solution. The only problem is, after looking in my templates folder . I still can't find the right bom file there. So i'm not sure which bom file is used when using the opticut export function..
