What "Standard" template do most of you use for your product BOM?

Would anyone be willing to share an example of your BOM that you use?

Do any of you export it to Excel or another 3rd party business software?

I'm not really familiar with the export to BOM and the best way to set it up.

Thank you for any input.

As for standard I made my own I would say it depends on how your defining your parts & assembly's. and what information from them you want in your BOM table will dictate how you make your BOM template.
But here we use them for Cutlist's, and BOM and we expost to an excel template that is formated and has an ODBC connection to our ERP system

There is no standard template. I have experience from several companies and..
1) Ultralarge BOM for partition walls. Profile type, name, code, supplier, measures, paint, quantity, pos number, assembly information etc... total 14 columns. That will be exported to Excel which is full of macros and formulas to sort everything to different sheets (they are for ordering materials + production documents). Like profiles are on one sheet, glasses another, fittings 3rd page etc.

2) Ultrasimple BOM with 4 columns for Indexing. Pos nr, detail name and width/length.

3) Rest of BOMs are between them. In furniture industry I used 3 different BOMs (different columns + filters). One BOM had everything to worksheets for production and order fittings + assembly information, second had information ONLY for parts (that information went through Excel to saw optimization software) + Indexing BOM.

You can use Excel as final output document, but it's possible to use Excel file as just carrier document to import data to ERP (like Navision, SAP etc). It depends, what information You need to get from TS and how far You will go with this. Connection with ERP is better, then You can connect all data with prices and stock size... etc.

At first You need very clear vision, what do You like to do and what information You need. With large development some changes may cost a lot at the end.

Have a nice ride! :)

Thank you for the input.

I'm trying to create a custom template and all the dimensions are in metric, how would I change that to standard?

I meant to say all the measurements in the BOM show up in metric and I would like them in standard

Manually edit the .bom file and under format use FORMAT=04|in
with 04 being decimal place
