Hello, everyone!
I couldn’t change the edges’ material by “Define multiple parts”, even though I have defined the materials in edge’s cat-file. So, how to change the edges’ material in one time.Image

So to change material on your edge you must use the panel or edge function and as you stated the material must be in the catalog. because even if you change the material with define part or multiple the catalog will force that code back to the material defined in the catalog. They have improved this function in 6.18 2017 to be generic and not have to use the catalog but its a very rigged function in 6.17 and below. because of that I wont use it for our company.

So first ask yourself what do you want out the edge function in terms of data/information on your drawings or paper work
  • do you want it to graphically show different edge textures?
do you want it to remove the material from the part because your edge bander does not have a pre-mill?
do you want it to auto label the edges when drafting parts?
do you want to use the edge shapes to calculation qty of material needed?
I asked my self these questions and came to the solution that the amount of time it takes to use the edge or panel function on every part that needs it was not worth the data output. I didn't need the edges to show different textures because we don't render for our customers just black and white and we have a pre-mill on our edgebander so I did not need it to cut the part down for me. so I just used reference and supplier in part characteristics for my edge material and edge code on each part to put in my bill of material and I use that and the part dimensions to calculate my edge material qty.
