I am trying to find out how to get an ID number for each part that references the unit it belongs to.
I tried using the index but it doesn't carry through to "panels" with edge banding.
Example: I have 18 inserted assemblies that I am releasing to manufacturing as one work order. That creates over 100 parts. How do I identify which unit each part belongs to?

Multi-level numbering

ALSO SET DPETH TO MULTI LEVEL

Then each assembly gets a number and each part get the number of the assembly before the part index
you can change the separator and numbering type in tools options

How do you set that up? and can you control the unit id #?

you can set the start value by typing it in but it has limitations
