So to change material on your edge you must use the panel or edge function and as you stated the material must be in the catalog. because even if you change the material with define part or multiple the catalog will force that code back to the material defined in the catalog. you can set the start value by typing it in but it has limitations

Then each assembly gets a number and each part get the number of the assembly before the part index
you can change the separator and numbering type in tools options

I don't believe Missler offers or has a pdm solution for Wood version 6 so your only options should be none or other

Ok I see what your saying now you have 3 identical parts then 1 of the 3 changes and you need a new index only for the 1 that changed. that sounds like a good improvement for them because we have the same issue with those parts on a complex design also.

I would say that is a bug and Missler should know about that

Currently not possible I asked at the 2017 user group. but they put in a request with Missler to have this functionality
