Cube subtract from a cube ?

Unread post by RATATUI »

Hi everybody,

I´m new in this forum and I have already my first question:

In the attachment there is an example for a subtraction of two solids (v6.8).

I want to subtract the small cube form the big one. Please help me, because I can´t believe that is simple operation is not possible.

Thanks in advance !!

Hi,

It seems that Parasolid does not like this kind of theoretical result. I mean the result would not exists in the "real life", if I you want to machine it for example. I am not so surprised that this operation fails.

I guess you have to go in surface mode to get a result :?

Hi Ratatui,

Your problem is that the vertexes (corners insine the big cube) )are exactly in the same position, and parasolid or others kernels does not like this situation. To be abble to do the subtract, just change the extrude lenght of the small cube to 9.9999 (i am sure that it will be no problem) and the result will be fine.

Cumprimentos,
Olaio
