What is "Shank Maximal(Minimal) diameter"?

Unread post by michelle »

Hello,

I'm using the Machining Component Wizard to define a toolholder. I am a bit confused about the fields which are requested below.

Questions:
1. What is a "Publishing"
2. For the attached screenshot, what is Shank Maximal diameter? a, b, c, d, or e?
3. For the attached screenshot, what is Shank Minimal diameter? a, b, c, d, or e?
4. How significant are these values and how will TopSolid use them?

Thanks again,
Michelle

Hi

Shank minimal is the smallest Ø of a tool shank you can't (this is the same for maximal), for example if you set the minimal value at 6,in this case, you can't mount a mill (or dril etc...) with a Ø5 shank.

These fields are used as filters

See you

Rémi

It would be perfect, if TopSolid would use these values to filter the components

But this does not work! TopSolid show always all components.. :(

Work this for you?

Hi Remi

Do you mean that "shank min/max diameter" actually refers to the *INNER* diameter of the tool holder where the actual tool will fit inside of?

I had assumed it means the outside diameter and could not understand why this was significant.

(Sorry Andi I don't have an answer to your question)

Thanks
Michelle

Hi to all

No Andyks, I did not check it yet, however it works for searching criteria . This enables you find tool holder between min/max values.

Yes, that's it. In fact, it should match with the shank of the cutting tool.

See you
