How to remove groves from surface?

Hello,

I would like to remove these grooves from my toolholder model (imported) in order to simplify it. Usually I use a function Surfaces>Removing>(type=faces, Healtype=Cap) but here it does not work. Could anyone please suggest how to remove these grooves such that the constant diameter cylinder is used (which is the surface above and below).

Thanks again

Hi Michelle:

It sounds like you're on the right track generally, but this can be a little "finicky" sometimes depending on the geometry you have to work with. Sometimes you have to do this in several steps, instead of all at once....I can't tell if there are fillets on the groove edges or not, but if there are you may want to try removing them first, and then the rest of the groove geometry (i.e.-do this in two separate operations instead of just one). If that fails, you may take a "brute force" approach and make a revolved solid (united with the toolholder) to simply "bury" the grooves.

Cheers, Brian

Hi Michelle

You can simply remove faces .
Menu : Surface  Removing. You may use "Extend" from the "Heal type" scrolling menu.

See you Michelle
