OK.

Got the PDM Database is less than 1 Gb away from the 10Gb limit Please consider upgrading to SQL Standard Edition Warning...

I contacted our outside IT guy and he quoted a price for SQL Server 2016 Standard and User License per each cost.

He also said that we would have to purchase a User Lic. for each TopSolid 7 user.... Is this correct ??? There is only 1 user active in the SQL 2014 Express system currently... It seems that TopSolid 7 funnels everthing thru this one user..

the other question I have is how much time should it take to do a in place SQL upgrade. We have daily full backups.

OK

I got my outside IT guy getting SQL 2016 Standard with 1 lic ( had to buy 3 "dummy" lic also.... ?? whatever...)

I was able to delete a couple of unnecessary projects and increase my remaining database space ( in SQL Express ) to 4.2 Mb so we should not have a problem before we get the SQL 2016 upgrade installed.

I will make another post when the upgrade is complete.

Well,

SQL upgrade is complete..... Could not go to SQL 2016 as we have Server 2008 R2 on our PDM server..... so upgraded to SQL 2014 Standard.

No problem with the in-place upgrade, except the SQL database log file got HUGE.... that along with the installer download filled the Hard drive.

Deleted the downloaded installer file, and ran a SQL logfile shrink, and now all is back to normal.... with basically unlimited SQL database size.
