Operation analysis

Hello all,

I have question about CAM operation analysis. I’m working on project with big number of unique parts. Each part has irregular shape holes (number of holes is about 400-500). These holes were made as “through one” pocket and this pocket was based on multi-selected curves. And so, in general terms, the question is:

I create the part with pockets A and B.
Pocket A is based on single curve. Pocket B is based on few curves (multi-selection of curves).
Then I try to recognize these pockets by “operation analysis on the part” in the CAM module and to machine them automatically. Single-curve pocket doesn’t make me problem but muti-curves one fails – only one of its holes is machined.
Is there a way to solve this problem?

Thanks,
With best regards, Vladimir.

Hi, Todd.

Thank you.
I’ll inform Czech reseller of TopSolid.
This bug forces me to use manual mode and adds two-three weeks to my project. It's a bad news but it's not catastrophe (I hope).

Good luck,
Vladimir.

As a work around, maybe you could just set up a custom process in CAM (see video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yl-WkK ... VpZPDhl-nP ). Then in CAD, when you create the pocket, you can assign the process to that operation so that it will be automatically recognized in CAM when you run the part analysis.

I haven't used this as a work around for your particular error but it works well when you want to define and assign a custom process to a pocket or other machining operation in CAD so that CAM already knows what process you want it to use.
