Bottom-up vs. In-place for furniture design

Unread post by Robert »

I would like to know from those of you who design furniture and cabinetry which method of design do you prefer "Bottom-Up or In-Place" and why do you perfer one over the other?

Robert i dont think that one is really better than the other, each approach has certain advantages and disadvantages, i feel that TopSolid offers the best of both, because you can use both on a project and at different levels. take for instance a table with a drawer, the table aprons and sub top could all be drawn in one document, then varaitions of different tops and legs could be brought to the frame, likewise the drawer can be modeled in one document and used in many different assemblies, it is nice that you dont have to make the drawer from five different part files,
