Creating a parametric molding
I have not had my training class yet, but I have been laboring through some of the tutorials I have completed the cabinet & door tutorials and part of bike and tool creation tutorials. But the one that is killing me is creating a molding.
I Have;
-Created the contour for the molding
-Extruded it
-Define part
-Define drivers
-Define key points
-Save as template
-Save as extruded part
But when I (Include Standard) and bring it into the (Work Space) I have no control over the moldings length. I know it is something simple but where do you think I’m going wrong.
Thanks

Hi Robert,
If you are trying to create a tool for a moulding, you are completely wrong. There is a specific function for that, take a look in the online help.
Basically you have to create a tool and use the molding function with that tool.
If you are trying to create a profile, you are more or less OK.
Steps to take (in a nutshell):
1. Create new Csys
2. Name new Csys "fr1" + make current
3. Create new Csys by Duplicate of "fr1" with a transaltion in the Z+ direction and dist="lg=100"
4. Name new Csys "fr2"
5. Create contour + Extrude up to "fr2" or with Height="lg"
6. Define part
7. Define drivers (if you want)
8. Save in lib
9. Create catalogue (if you want)
10. Create key-point (min. 1) (have to be points, only in fr1. Do not make key-points in fr2!!!)
11. Define as extruded component.
Full explanation in online help, works allways if you follow the steps. If it doesn't work, you didn't follow the steps.
Good luck
Pieter
