door direction symbol in draft

Unread post by Scotsman »

Hi, I need to use v shaped symbols to indicate door direction for elevation drawings.
I understand that you:
- draw the v shaped lines on the door template
- R click on assembly / define draft detailing

Then in draft:
- modify the view / select "components detailing projection"

Then theoretically the doors should show up in draft elevations with the direction symbol.

This isn't working for me - does anyone know of a tutorial or document describing the steps?

thanks

I believe it should be components schematic projection you want selected. not detailing that is dimensions and notes only

Also, It will not work unless the item you have added the details/symbols to has been saved as a library component.

the example I show works without them being saved to the library. that door model is just a sub-assembly I made to do a quick test.

Todd,

So, the sub-assembly is inserted in another product before you made the draft? Good to know. I haven't tried that but when I was first trying to work with the feature I made an assembly, added the draft schematic, and made a draft but the schematic would never show. Put in an email to tech support and that is when they told me it had to be a component.

Have you found a way to make detail text come in at the right scale using this feature? I have adjustable shelves that I represent as a dashed line, which works fine, but I would like to also have the text ADJ inserted above the shelf scaled to the view. Right now it just comes in at whatever size I have it set to in the component.

Hi guys I found what I was doing wrong - I was using sketch/contour to create the door lines when I should have used curves/contour. (it's a bug apparently)

btw, I used "define draft detailing" in the door template and "components detailing projection" in the draft which worked well
