I agree with the idea behind using a standard (gaming) video card, I've done that for years. But the article shows a large improvement (10x) with the workstation class cards in CAD products. The one that caught my eye was UG, because it uses the parasolid kernel also. I'd personally rather stick wit...

Is a workstation graphics card that much better? It may be..

I've always read a lot about computer tech and have always used standard retail graphics cards in my systems. I've always wondered though if Workstation graphics cards were really a lot better? I mean I've read on the hardware, and a Workstation card and a Standard card are very close to the same us...

Just started myself. Used it quite a bit at the Chicago conference / training. Quite a few nice new features we learned to use there. Seems to be pretty stable so far. I haven't gotten a whole design done it it yet though (Mold).

Also a short cut is when you are in a command and it prompts for a dimension you can do la=450. Then it stores it as a parameter you can use over or in other calcultions.

Hello Richard. Would "Mold Visualization" be the same as "Mold Gestion". If it is, I entirely agree. TopSolid Viewer needs the same abilitiy to turn componets off and on when you open a Mold file. I also currently have to spend time sorting The "A" side to one layer, th...

I used it the Vista 64 Ultimate for a couple of months. It work well overall but had some odd graphical issues with a couple of things. They just drove me nuts enough to switch back to XP-PRO.

But is does work in Vista.

I use the Mold "Full Section". I'll use the regular "Full section" if I just want to cut through the "A" or "B" side only. But yes all the tappings are not working on any of the water componets that I use. Plugs, baffles, connectors.

Jehronimo,
I tried that and it failed again once I switched it back. Do you have to change the high quality threading to switch it back?

Well I found what the problem was in all of my designs. It was the DME JP352 water connector in the TopSolid library. If you use the JP352 in a design and you cut a Full Section that puts the connector in a way that TS has to figure out a Profile of it (Even if you don't actually cut through it), yo...

Mass command enhancement request

I'd like to see it when you use the "Mass" command to figure out weight, that when it finds an entity with no assigned material, that is wouldn't error out, but zoom in and just display that entity and let you select a material for it or give me an option on mass that I could say use "...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Yes I can cut 3d section anywhere I want. I can cut a regular Section also at the same locations but I still can not cut a "Full Mold Section" on a tool design yet. It always fails with a bolean error. I've now designed 8 tools in 2008 and cannot cut a ...
