How to add a Clear Coat or No Finishing to Edges

So, I can add a clear finish to parts by using a finishing but with edges, the only drop down available is for coatings. If there are no coating options in the edge catalog, it will leave the edge the color of the material selected but if I have any coatings (which I need for some parts), then one h...

Re: How to Add a Clear Coating

Thanks Todd!

I just tried it out and the Finishes don't affect the presentation of the part like the coatings which is exactly what I needed. I just had to update my BOM to show the finishing info as well.

How to Add a Clear Coating

Is there a way to add a clear coating to a part so that it will be listed in the BOM but without it changing the look of the finished part? We have a number of parts of different materials that we apply a clear lacquer to and I would like the shaded view in the draft to show the material but still h...

Re: index info

Here is how I do it... 2018-07-18_0912_Indexes.png You still need a BOM in the draft but you can located it off the actual drawing sheet or on another sheet. With the BOM in your draft, you use the index with information function. Select the BOM and then select "New Definition" and you can create yo...

Default Style of Composite Dimensions

Is there a way to change the default style of composite dimensions for drafting? Currently it always defaults to Type= "BASE LINE DIMENSIONS". We almost exclusively use "CONTINUE DIMENSIONS".

Thanks!

Re: Change the default index style?

I would like the index with information to display in either a box or a balloon. I have changed the individual index before but it has to be done right as the index is being created. It seems like there should be a setting where the default could be changed. It also seems strange that the index with...

Change the default index style?

Is there a way to change the default index balloon for an index with information? I can't find the option and even when I try to modify an index the box is grayed out as shown below...

Re: Default Constrained Block Thickness

Thanks for the tip RM!

For me, I had to make the change in my top.cfg file.

Also, everything in my file is metric which it converts to imperial so I had to set the value to 0.01905 (19.05mm)

Re: Showing the outline of cabinetry below countertop

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't used that option before. It still doesn't display the cabinets the way I am looking for but I am sure that I will be using that with glass door cabinets, ect. in the future. I ended up using the curves function in CAD to draw the outline of the boxes and then inserting i...

Showing the outline of cabinetry below countertop

Has anyone found a good way to show the outline of base cabinets below a countertop without showing the entire cabinet?

Re: Revit import

6.18 is supposed to have support for BIM. I tried to save a file with the .ifc extension and it says, "unauthorized use" so I am assuming there is an additional module to buy (at least for supporting .ifc files). Let us know what you find out with the revit files.

@Chad, thanks! We don't currently have the render package but we are looking at adding it in the future so that is good to know.

Re: Importing Models into TopSolid

The grabcad site is a great resource. Thanks for the tip! I am still wondering if there is a way to use the other file types since unfortunately most of the plumbing and appliance manufacturers used in projects we work on only have .dwg .dxf and sketchup files. The sketchup files seem to have smooth...
